Quaker Roots

Refusal to fight with weapons is not surrender. We are not passive when threatened by the greedy, the cruel, the tyrant, the unjust. We will struggle to remove the causes of impasse and confrontation by every means of nonviolent resistance available.

Quaker Roots¬†(previously “Roots of Resistance”) is a community of Friends building a creative, vibrant and radical Quaker response to the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) arms fair.

After three years of organising, we (the Quaker Roots core group) have been taking a fallow period, resting, digesting, recharging and reflecting, so that we might listen deeply to where we feel we are being led next.   Join us in Huddersfield Fri 16th РSun 18th September 2022 for What Can Love Do? A Quaker Roots gathering to get to know one another, to connect deeply and to attune to where Quaker Roots is now and where we might be being led moving forwards.

On Tuesday 3rd September 2019, hundreds of Quakers joined us to take action against the DSEI arms fair, one of the world’s largest trade shows for the defence industry. Find out what happened in our video here:
